Lucy Soerens, born in Wisconsin, moved around throughout her childhood before settling down in Texas in 2007. Oldest child of a music minister, she learned both classical and contemporary piano from a very early age. Throughout middle school and high school she participated in National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals, National Piano Playing Guild Auditions, and National Fine Arts - competing at the national level in piano solo, worship team, and songwriting. She engaged in music theory training through annual exams facilitated by Texas Music Teachers Association. She highly values all genres and styles of piano music and emphasizes a foundation in music theory, as well as the value of performances as part of student development. She is currently a student at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, majoring in Piano Performance. She is President of her university’s collegiate chapter of Music Teacher’s National Association. In summer of 2015 she worked at Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado as the Arts Administration Intern.
Her desire is for her students to have fond memories of piano lessons when they’re older, to love the instrument, to grow in music as a creative outlet, and to value music as part of their education. In the rare hours when she is not practicing or teaching her incredible students, she runs a photography business, enjoys coffee, and explores Dallas.
